We've had it recharged and taken it to several shops over a 6 year period. We usually have it recharged a couple times each summer and both times the ac only works for a few days. Or 2-3 weeks and then it goes out. The 96 belongs to my daughter and I've never heard or seen exactly what the car does when the ac fails but she explains it to me like this. We have it working fully, cold, blowing strongly and it seems to be working like a new car and then all of a sudden you will hear a loud noise like it just blew all the freon or blew up. The air then goes warm and will not do anything but blow hot air so once again we take it to the shop and explain all this to them , they recharge it and we go on our way again for a few days and the same cycle happens all over again. We've had several different people recharge it and we've even had a (couple) of new compressors put on it along with all new parts. ... less

You already have access to all the components in the circuit so you just need to follow a wiring diagram using a test light that reads both power or ground. It can only be the resister, blower switch or connecting wiring. They all control the ground side of the circuit. the pump receives power all the time.

This one isn't finding anything. The 96 has a major leak and really shouldn't be that hard to find. They should be adding UV dye and they it will leave an obvious stain under U/V light. The leak detector should be picking it up pretty easily too. On the 2000, it appears you are getting very high pressure for some reason and the blow off valve is tripping. This could be lack of cooling fan, restricted condenser or a blockage in a hose somewhere. It will take someone with some experience to locate the problem. If it's not found soon, it's going to do severe damage to the compressor if it hasn't already. less
